What is FOGO?
FOGO means food organics and garden organics. It is a kerbside bin for food scraps and garden waste together, where your council runs that service.
Bin Stickers Australia is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.
FOGO is not the same as every green bin
A garden-organics or green-waste bin is often garden clippings only: lawn, leaves, small branches. Food scraps in that bin can be treated as contamination.
A FOGO bin is designed to take both. Typical food organics include fruit and vegetable scraps, leftovers, meat, dairy, and food-soiled paper, but the exact list is the council's. Some councils want food in a kitchen caddy first. Some accept compostable liners and some do not. Read the council guide for your address before you change what you throw out.
Who has a FOGO bin?
Not every council has switched. Some still collect garden waste only, or only in certain suburbs. A bin lid colour that means FOGO in one city can mean something else in another. Do not relabel a bin as FOGO because a neighbour in a different council has one.
If your council is rolling FOGO out, they will usually deliver the bin or send a letter. That letter is the right place to confirm the start date and what goes in.
Labelling the bin
A FOGO sticker is a household reminder. It does not sign you up for the service. If you already have a FOGO bin and the lid marking has worn off, a weatherproof label on the lid or front can stop food scraps going into recycling or general waste. Use where to label a wheelie bin for placement, and keep the official council booklet for the accepted items.
