What to do if your bin was not collected
A missed collection is a council or contractor issue. Work through the checks below, then use the council's official missed-bin form or phone line.
Bin Stickers Australia is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.
Check these before you report it
- Was it actually collection day? Open your council waste calendar for your address. Fortnightly recycling and green waste are often on the opposite week to what you expect. Public holidays move some rounds.
- Was the bin out in time and reachable? Bins behind cars, under low trees, or hard against a pole are commonly skipped. The lid needs to be closed, and the bin should not be overfilled so the lid sits proud.
- Was the right bin out? A recycling truck will not empty general waste, and a FOGO round will not take a rubbish bin. Colours are not the same in every council.
- Was there a contamination notice? Some crews leave a bin unemptied and tag it when the contents are wrong. Read the tag. The council page lists what belongs in each bin.
- Did the truck already come past later streets? If the rest of the street is still full, the truck may not have reached you yet.
How to report it
Use the council that charges you for waste, not a neighbouring council and not this website. On their waste page look for "missed bin", "bin not collected" or "report a problem". Have ready:
- The service address.
- Which bin was missed: general waste, recycling, garden organics or FOGO.
- The date you put it out.
- Any bin number printed on the bin, if you can read one. See how to find your bin number.
Many councils only accept a missed-bin report within one or two business days, and they may ask you to leave the bin out for a return run. Follow their instruction. Do not leave it out for days if they tell you to bring it in.
What we cannot do
Ordering a sticker does not book a collection, replace a damaged bin, or log a missed service. If the bin itself is cracked, lost or stolen, ask the council about a repair or replacement. A new number sticker only helps after you know the number that should be on that bin.
