Measuring for bin stickers
Shop sizes are listed in millimetres. Measure the flat plastic you will actually stick to, not the whole bin.
Bin Stickers Australia is an independent sticker supplier. We are not a council or government waste service. Confirm collection days, missed bins and replacement bins on your council's official website.
What to measure
- Decide the spot using where to label a wheelie bin.
- Measure the width of the flat area, stopping before ribs, hinges and curves. A tape pulled over a curve overstates the space.
- Measure the height the same way.
- Subtract about 10 mm from each side so the vinyl is not perched on the edge of a rib.
A 240 litre household wheelie bin has a large lid, but the flat printable zone on the front of the lid is often much smaller than the lid itself. A 120 litre bin and a 660 or 1100 litre commercial bin are different again. Measure the bin you have.
Matching a shop size
If a listing offers 100 mm, 150 mm or 200 mm widths, pick the largest size that still fits inside your measured flat area. Bigger type is easier to read from the kerb. If the number is long, a wider and shorter sticker is usually better than a tall one that collides with the hinge.
Height and width on the product are the sticker, not the bin. Order one sticker per bin if each bin needs its own number.
After it arrives
Hold the backing against the bin before you peel it. If it rocks on a curve, choose a flatter spot or trim only if the product instructions allow. Then follow how to apply bin stickers.
